Songster Records Demo Submission Rules (SRDSR)
SRDSR Introduction

These rules, hereinafter referred to as “SRDSR,” govern the submission of demo materials to Songster Records. By submitting your work, you agree to comply with these terms.
SRDSR Definitions
- “We,” “Us,” “Our,” refers to Wayne A. Cargill Agency, including all Digital Products, Digital Services, and Digital Platforms within our Digital Media Network.
- “You,” “Your,” refers to the individual artist, group, or band submitting demo materials.
- “Demo,” “Material,” “Submission,” “Work,” refers to any submitted digital images, lyrics, music, songs, or comedy in digital audio or visual format.
Submission Guidelines
- Submitted works must be original, unique, and free from copyright restrictions. Samples, plagiarized lyrics, and cover band material are prohibited.
- Demos must be complete, amateur recordings, 100% error-free, and owned by the submitting party.
- Submitted works must not be under any existing representation or contractual obligation.
- Submissions are limited to unsigned, independent amateur artists. Professional submissions will not be considered.
- Demos must contain a minimum of five and a maximum of ten songs, or 8-10 comedy skits.
- Demos may include songs from our various genres.
- For security, you must use a pseudonym or stage name, different from your legal name.
- A 30-second sound bite of each song or comedy skit must accompany your demo.
- Lyrics must be submitted in the provided form, not as an attachment.
- Only the top 51 submissions will be selected.
Representation and Agreement
- Selected artists must sign an exclusive Five-Year Songster Recording Artists Client Franchise Agreement with Wayne A. Cargill Agency, under ClientScout e-Entertainment and Songster Records.
- The agreement requires a minimum of 60 hours of monthly practice, five original songs or comedy skits per year, and promotion of Wayne A. Cargill Agency, ClientScout e-Entertainment, and Songster Records in any interview, and on social media.
- For minors, parental consent is required.
- During the agreement, you are expected to promote Wayne A. Cargill Agency, ClientScout e-Entertainment, and Songster Records on social media and while being interviewed.
SRDSR Financial Terms
- You will receive 70% of the net profits (CAD, excluding taxes) from sales/leases of your digital singles, records, or albums.
- The remaining 30% will be allocated as follows:
- 5% to Songster Records for digital production and distribution.
- 5% to ClientScout e-Entertainment for representation.
- 5% to Client Scout e-Advertising for advertising.
- 5% to Megavision Productions for promotional videos.
- 5% to Client Scout e-Branding for award winning branding.
- 5% to Client Scout e-Marketing for marketing.
- All high-profile or corporate-sponsored endorsements must be approved in writing by Wayne A. Cargill Agency. ClientScout e-Entertainment receives a 5% commission.
- Endorsements and advertisements must be crafted by Client Scout e-Advertising, produced by Megavision Productions, branded by Client Scout e-Branding, and marketed by Client Scout e-Marketing at prevailing wages, with Wayne A. Cargill Agency’s written approval.
Rights and Ownership
- You retain 100% ownership of your original works. For collaborative works, ownership is split 50/50.
- Wayne A. Cargill Agency holds perpetual copyright to all submitted material, including intellectual properties, lyrics, and demo singles.
Termination and Continuation
- Early termination incurs a fee of $6,600.00 CAD plus taxes per produced digital single, plus breach fees.
- Minor breaches incur a fee of $1,848.00 CAD plus taxes per breach.
- A third minor breach is treated as a major breach, with a fee of $264.00 CAD plus taxes per day until the agreement’s original end date, plus early termination fees.
- Major breaches result in immediate termination and the same fees as early termination and third minor breach.
- Successful completion of the agreement results in no penalties. A new agreement may be offered.
- We cover all upfront expenses and will not require any monetary reimbursement, except for retaining 30% of the net profit from the sales or leasing of your works—provided you DO NOT breach the agreement.
- Upon termination, we will issue a press release within three business days.
Formatting and Submission Requirements
- Genre song lengths must adhere to the following:
- A cappella: 2.5-4 minutes
- Blues: 3-4 minutes
- Capriccio Rock: 2-4 minutes
- Classic Rock: 3-5 minutes
- Classical Music: 5-9.5 minutes
- Country Music: 3-4 minutes
- Funk: 3-5 minutes
- Hard Rock: 2.5-4 minutes
- Hip Hop: 3-4 minutes
- Instrumental Music: 3-10 minutes
- Jazz: 3-7 minutes
- Pop: 2-3.5 minutes
- Punk Rock: 2-3.5 minutes
- R&B: 3-4 minutes
- Reggae: 3-4 minutes
- Soul Music: 3-4 minutes
- Stand-Up Comedy: 2-4 minutes
Internet Exclusivity Clause
- Wayne A. Cargill Agency, ClientScout e-Entertainment, and Songster Records hold and enforce Internet exclusivity for all submitted works.
Submission Consideration
- Failure to comply with these rules will result in disqualification.
- These rules must be read, understood, and obeyed prior to submitting any work.
